The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has pulled the plug on the Warriors coach Zdravco Logarusic after the Croat managed just one win in 14 matches.
ZIFA said the association and Logarusic had “amicably parted ways with Senior Men’s team coach” as pressure mounted for Logarusic to be axed.
“The decision was arrived at upon consideration by the full Executive Committee of all the various relevant
circumstances pertaining to the coach’s contract,” said ZIFA spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela.
“The entire technical team has also been disbanded. The appointment of the interim technical team shall be announced in due course as the Executive Committee has already set in motion the process. For and on behalf of the Zimbabwe Football Association,” he added.
The Croat’s luck ran out on Tuesday after Ethiopia scored a dramatic 95th-minute winner at the Bahir Dar Stadium to take the Walias up to joint-second in the World Cup Group G qualifier and condemn Zimbabwe to what we feared they had become – pretenders.
The result meant Bafana Bafana remain on top of the Group with four points.
Ghana and Ethiopia level on three points while the Warriors anchor the Group with one point.
