PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa praise singer, Admire Sanyanga (32), popularly known as chief Shumba, who is answering to charges of rape has been granted bail.

Sanyanga appeared before Magistrate Barbra Mateko and was released on $200 bail coupled with conditions.

Not to interfere with state witness and to continue residing at the address he submitted till the matter has been finalised.

The matter was postponed to September 6.

Allegations are that on July 30, Sanyanga asked the complainant to assist him to carry his luggage to his place of  residence and the complainant agreed.

The court heard when the pair arrived at Sanyanga’s house, the complainant refused to enter and Sanyanga begged her to enter where he alleged that he wanted to give her some oranges.

Further the court heard that the complainant refused to which Sanyanga went on and threatened her with violence before he pulled her inside, and then locked the door from inside.

It is alleged that the Mushana PaJecha song-maker went on to pin complainant on his bed and forcefully removed her cloth and raped her.

When Sanyanga finished committing the offence he warned the complainant against reporting. State alleges that when the complainant went home, she wrote the rape into her diary and hid it in her room.

The matter came to light after the complainant diary was discovered by her employer leading to a police report. At the police station, the complainant was referred to hospital for medical examination and a medical affidavit was compiled which will be availed in court at the appropriate time, the state said.
