- Massive corruption at RG’s office
- Corruption busters victimised
THERE was drama at the Register General (RG)’s office after employees were last year forced to resign at gunpoint.
According to information available to Zim Morning Post, the threats using firearms were meant to squeeze corruption-related information among employees within the organisation.
Inside sources allege there was to be an internal audit at the RG complex.
It is said corruption busters were the once being targeted by the audit and were going to be forced to resign afterwards.
Zim Morning Post can exclusively reveal that two accountants at the RG identified only as Bwanya and Makiwa allegedly forced other employees to sign resignation papers at gunpoint.
“The guys are both in the accounts department. They all forced some employees to resign at gunpoint in October,” a source revealed.
However, no action has reportedly been taken against the two, who the source said had the blessings of the RG to act in such a manner.
Inside sources told Zim Morning Post that corruption at the RG’s office was rife, with the source challenging the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) to investigate the RG’s office.
“Zacc should investigate what is happening at the RG’s office. Corruption there is rife and stinking. If action is not taken, there will be disaster there,” a senior manager at the RG office said.
Efforts to get a comment from the RG, Clemence Masango, hit a snag as he was not picking his phone.
