Uprising hip hop duo Crisswiss and Wilson The Dot (real name Wilson Matarutso and Blessing Bejile) are poised to pull shockers as they were nominated for four categories at this edition of Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards, Zim Morning Post can report.
The creative Duo were nominated for Best Hip Hop Group /Duo. Best Album, Best Collaboration and song of the year.
The recognition was in respect of their song titled Bad Vibes which featured Lee McHoney aka Mai Noku, Vic Jita and Uno XO.
The song was championing positivity and denouncing negative Vibes in life.
The artists were using art as a mirror of real life.
In an interview with Zim Morning Post this week, the other half of the outfit Wilson the Dot said he was optimistic that their creative efforts will pay off, but he made it clear that when they make music, it’s from the heart.
“We believe music is a mission not a competition. Our nominations are victory and winning will be a bonus.
“We aim at pushing local hip hop culture and we thank the organizers for recognizing the art, they are far too kind,” said Milton the Dot.
The awards will be held on December 12 at Rainbow Towers at a potentially explosive event sponsored by Pogeus.
Other contenders include Probeats, R Peels, Kiky Badass and Jungle Locco.
It’s a tight contested battle and Room 328-The Bridgeview is so far on top of online polls. The album has dominated on Zifm chart shows and redefined local hip hop.
Their lead single Bad Vibes nominated for song of the year and Best Collaboration had an impressive run on Zifm Chart Shows in the year of 2020.
It debuted in the top 5 ON the Zifm Top 40 Chart Show in an impressive 8 week run which saw Bad Vibes take Pole Position in that run against stiff competition from the likes of Asaph, Ex Q and Jah Prayzah hip hop has been plagued by a lot of controversy lately, but it forms part of the hip hop culture world over, tracing back to the days of NWA fronted by the late Easy E.
